Board Basics (Without the Boring Parts): What Every Nonprofit Board Needs to Handle Each Year
Description
Board service shouldn’t feel confusing or abstract, yet many nonprofit leaders are never clearly shown what boards are actually responsible for. This interactive, in-person session breaks down core board responsibilities in plain language: financial oversight, executive support, legal and ethical duties, strategic direction, and overall board effectiveness.
Participants will gain clarity on what boards are accountable for (and what falls outside their role), where boards tend to get stuck, and how to focus limited time and energy on the work that creates real organizational impact.
Designed for both board members and nonprofit staff who work closely with boards, this session is practical, approachable, and grounded in real-world governance, not theory or jargon.
