I hope your #GivingTuesday was a success! And now that it’s over, let’s think about stewardship for your donors—those from #GivingTuesday and others who will donate before the year ends or who have donated this year.

You should reach out to your #GivingTuesday donors this week! Email would be a great way to do this, although I always encourage a written and mailed acknowledgement letter, too.

A few things to think about while writing your thank you notes. If it’s a new donor, recognize that in your note. Tell them you appreciate that they picked your organization to contribute to when there are many other good causes out there.

And of course, if it’s a current donor, it’s important to mention that as well. “We appreciate your ongoing support for the ABC Nonprofit.” is all it takes.

Your donors want to know that you received their gift, and that you appreciate that gift.

This time of year should bring an increase in donors and, thus, an increase in your stewardship activity.

More than 30 percent of giving happens in December; 12 percent of all giving happens in the last three days of the year! Read more about end-of-year giving statistics here https://www.neoncrm.com/10-year-end-giving-statistics-every-fundraiser-should-know/.
