Love is in the air this week. Share it with your donors! Some folks call Valentine’s Day Donor Day!

Use Valentine’s Day as a stewardship opportunity to show your donors how much you appreciate and love them.

There are many ways to show your love of donors. From a telephone call to free tickets…. reach out to your donors with nothing but thanks during this week of love.

You can send a Valentine:

Have a special event to recognize volunteers, or donors at a certain level. Think about a breakfast, coffee or lunch, not a dinner if it’s on February 14. Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular dining out nights and many people will have plans.

Technology makes some aspects of donor stewardship easy. Use email to send your donors a Valentine’s Day message, thanking them for their support and sharing the love of your nonprofit.

I’ve found that donors enjoy a display of appreciation for their gift. As a donor, I know I am always happy when I am thanked or when I receive news and information about the work happening because of my gift.

When it’s tied to a holiday or other special day, it is more meaningful for me as it shows someone at the organization is thinking of my all year round.
